POSITION SUMMARY:

Reports to: Director of Sales and Marketing

At Utility Relay Company, we help electrical professionals protect more and replace less by modernizing critical power infrastructure. As a Sales Engineer, you will play a key role in driving this mission – owning and growing a dynamic territory by supporting existing customers and developing new opportunities.

This is a highly visible, customer-facing role where you’ll act as both a trusted technical advisor and a strategic business partner. You’ll bring deep product knowledge, uncover customer needs, and help shape specifications that position URC as the preferred solution.

This is a remote position based in the Greater Cleveland, Ohio region, with a territory that currently includes parts of the Midwest and Canada (subject to change).

    What you will do
  • Serve as the technical expert and primary point of contact for your territory
  • Support customers with application guidance, product selection, and technical expertise
  • Create demand by proactively engaging electrical service providers, end users, and specifying engineers
  • Influence project specifications by clearly articulating URC’s technical and economic advantages
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers and partners
  • Develop and execute territory growth strategies to expand market share
  • Deliver engaging technical presentations, training sessions, and seminars
  • Capture and communicate market insights, customer needs, and competitive activity
  • Travel as needed to support customers, projects, and business development efforts
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and take on additional responsibilities as needed

    What We Are Looking For
  • A high level of integrity, ownership, and accountability
  • 3–5 years of experience in technical sales, preferably in electrical or industrial markets
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Confidence presenting to a wide range of stakeholders – from technicians to engineers to executives
  • Proven ability to build relationships, influence decisions, and close opportunities
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage a large, multi-state territory independently
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to ~70% (air and ground)
  • Demonstrated success in sales, business development, or product-focused roles
    What Sets You Apart
  • Curiosity and critical thinking—you enjoy solving complex customer challenges
  • A positive, energetic approach and strong personal drive
  • Experience with low-voltage power systems or circuit breaker technologies (or the ability to learn quickly)
  • Familiarity with CRM tools such as Salesforce
    Location and Travel
  • Remote role based in the Greater Cleveland, Ohio region
  • Territory includes multiple U.S. states and Canada (subject to change)
  • Travel required up to approximately 70%
    Why Join URC?
  • Be part of a company that is modernizing electrical infrastructure and solving real-world reliability and safety challenges
  • Work in a role with high autonomy, impact, and visibility
  • Join a team that values expertise, responsiveness, and long-term customer relationships
  • Help customers extend the life of critical equipment—saving time, cost, and waste
